Fall is the perfect time to be in Colorado. With the crisp air, the gorgeous colors, the mountains shaded in snow and low lying clouds, the atmosphere is electric, the temperature is perfect, and the activities are endless. Fall is the perfect time to explore with Colorado Wilderness Rides and Guides, and the best time for hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, fly-fishing, and sightseeing across the Front Range.   Rock Climbing The cooler temperatures across the Front Range make the rock stickier and easier to climb on, as the temperatures throughout the day maintain a moderate coolness that makes it a joy to climb all day. While the alpine season is snowy and cold, the temperatures down low in the Boulder Valley are temperate, making it perfect for great climbing in Boulder and Eldorado Canyon. Come explore the single and multi-pitch classics, as well as climbing in the Flatirons, as the cooler days give us a variety of extended options without needing to hide from the summer heat.   Our custom and private excursions match your ambitions, ability level, and fortitude with some of the most classic climbs in North America, including the First, Second, and Third Flatiron, The Bastille Crack, Castle Rock, and a number of single and multi-pitch classics.   Mountain Biking Throughout the fall, the cooler temperatures are perfect for mountain biking under a spectacular Flatiron vista. Boulder is one of the world’s mountain biking meccas, with hundreds of miles of trails in every direction, with mellow rides through the South Boulder hills to exciting single-track through Marshall Mesa for intermediate to advanced riders. Our expert bike guides will help you hone your technique or ride your dream trail, whether you’re looking to learn a new skill or just looking for a fun day out. Our custom and private excursions ensure that every aspect of the trip is customized to your skill level and ability.   With the snow in the mountains in the distance, the aspens turning a fiery yellow-red, and the afternoon-like sunshine all day, riding in the Front Range in fall is a unique and one-of-a-kind experience.   Hiking Hiking in either Boulder or Rocky Mountain National Park is at it’s best in the fall. While all the summer crowds have disappeared, the trails are empty and the wildlife is abundant. The peaks are covered in snow, offering a magnificent ambiance, and the trails up high are icy and pristine. It’s a great time to see alpine lakes in snow-covered glory, see waterfalls at the start of their freezing, and see wildlife such as moose, deer, elk, mountain goats, bighorn sheep, and the elusive black bear. While the high peaks are snow-covered and tougher in the winter, the lower trails, especially around Boulder and Rocky Mountain National Park are magnificent. We’ll customize the trail to your liking, based on fitness, ability level, and what kind of trail you’d like including lake hikes, peak ascents, and waterfalls. Safety is our number one priority, so we’ll choose the trail based on the best conditions and most scenic views. Hiking in Colorado in winter is an unforgettable experience.   Sightseeing To see the best of Colorado’s landscape from the comfort of our air conditioned and heated vans, a sightseeing tour will take you to the Front Range’s most unforgettable views. From the lower roads of Rocky Mountain National Park to the winding historical roads of Boulder, we’ll take you in complete comfort to find wildlife, unforgettable views. Our enthusiastic and fun guides will talk about cultural and natural history, wildlife, and our unique and diverse Colorado culture. Join Colorado Wilderness Rides and Guides for a one-of-a-kind sightseeing tour.
