Colorado is known as a winter vacation hub and a skiers' and snowboarders' paradise. While the ski areas in the state provide great amenities and access to terrific inbound terrain, much of the best terrain lies outside the boundaries of ski areas (i.e. Aspen, Breckenridge, Steamboat, or Vail Colorado). In addition to stellar backcountry skiing terrain, the backcountry experience provides few crowds and access to un-skied virgin slopes.
Our goal at Colorado Wilderness Rides And Guides is to provide ski access to these hidden gems. As with any winter backcountry activity, our number one priority is your safety. In addition to providing access to some of the best skiing terrain imaginable within a two hour drive of a major metro area such as Boulder or Denver Colorado, we will educate you about traveling in avalanche terrain and help make you a safer and more educated backcountry traveler. For those who want to aquire even more advanced knowledge and skills, we also teach avalanche certifications courses.

This ski tour is Colorado skiing at its best. We approach the Divide from the east and spend the day skiing runs and terrain below its veil. Come ski in Colorado! The goal of our guided alpine skiing tours is to provide a safe and educational experience not found in a guidebook. This is a great introduction to the sport of backcountry skiing in Colorado or can be used to facilitate the improvement of backcountry ski skills for intermediate and advanced skiers wanting to improve skills or test themselves.
Itinerary: For this guided snowshoe tour, we depart Boulder, Denver, or Estes Park in the early morning and travel through the town of Estes Park or Allenspark into Rocky Mountain National Park. We then spend approximately 2-2.5 hours skiing to the best spots based on the desires of the groups and the weather / snow conditions.
